Piosenka została po raz pierwszy wspomniana 18 marca 2009 roku w magazynie Kerrang!, który twierdził, że piosenka (nazwana “singlem”) jest już dostępna do ściągnięcia na oficjalnej stronie Marilyn Manson. Niestety, mijało się to z prawdą — strona Mansona pozostała niezmieniona. Pięć dni później Interscope wydał korygujące oświadczenie, zapowiadając internetową premierę We’re From America na 27 marca. Przy okazji pojawiła się informacja, że 7 kwietnia piosenka będzie miała swoją premierę jako e-singiel.

Wyznaczonego dnia strona Mansona odświeżyła nieco swój wizerunek oferując ekskluzywny download piosenki w formacie mp3 (320 kbps). Warto dodać, że nieco wcześniej tego samego dnia nastąpił anonimowy wyciek piosenki do Internetu. 30 marca piosenka została dodana do MySpace Mansona.

14 kwietnia amerykańska sieć sklepów Hot Topic wypuściła ekskluzywny singiel We’re From America w wersji CD, który zawierał ścieżkę tytułową oraz dodatkową piosenkę — Four Rusted Horses (Opening Titles Version). Po dwóch dniach singiel został wyprzedany z ich strony internetowej. Również w tym samym czasie oficjalna tracklista wskazała, że piosenka znalazła swoje miejsce na albumie pod numerem 10.
